Welcome Foodies

Hi! I’m Rebecca. This is my little space for people who feel a connection to food whether it’s cooking, serving, advocating- a place to learn plant-based and gluten-free adaptations for your routine meals – and a place to share important stories.

If you haven’t guessed by now, food is my thing. I love to cook it. I love to eat it. I love to be around it. And if there are people who can’t enjoy food like I can, I want to fix it.
I have always loved the thought of a family Sunday dinner. The whole family at home, grandparents visiting, and we all sit down to a delicious homemade meal together.
My boys always ask for “Taco Tuesday.” Honestly, I think it’s more about how fun it sounds rolling off the tongue than the tacos themselves.

meal adaptations

Let’s cook!  The best part of preparing a meal for your guests or family, is sitting down together and sharing components of that meal – passing serving bowls, taking food from the same platter, and sharing conversation.  With so many different dietary requirements and restrictions, it can be a daunting task.  But it doesn’t have to be.  I’m excited to take you on this journey and teach you how to adapt your favorite meals so that everyone at the table can enjoy basically the same thing together. You no longer have to make something completely different for someone. Plant-based and gluten-free adaptations are easier and tastier than you think.

favorite products

Let’s face it, when it comes to cooking, not all products are created equal.  Especially when you use gluten-free and plant-based items.  It’s a lot of trial and error and a lot of personal preference as well. I’ve been on this cooking journey for some years and invite you here to my space to learn about some of my favorite products.

food stories

Behind impactful work across communities, there are stories that should be told. Stories of givers, stories of receivers, and stories celebrating the power of partnership.  There isn’t equity across communities when it comes to food, but there are people and organizations fighting for that equity and doing impactful work every day.  It’s important for me to tell those stories because I know with each meal I prepare for my family or friends, there are many people who don’t have food to prepare for themselves or their families. I invite you to read these stories and be inspired to make a difference in your own little way.

out and about

Join me from time to time when I visit favorite places or go on new adventures – farmers markets, food festivals, indulgent dinners, simple brunches, cozy cafes, tea houses , volunteer outings – in Pittsburgh, the place I call home, or in other cities across the country.
